Of Things Scary - Sort of

So over this past weekend I went to my very first ever live-action midnight showing of

at The Tower Theater. I was fully delighted to dress up all crazy (with leatherette leggings and a silver sequin mini skirt) and got even more excited when I saw all the seats covered in black plastic garbage bags. And I wasn't disappointed. Flying rice, toast, water, and toilet paper was absolutely awesome.

My only beef was the level of crudeness. Yes, Rocky Horror Picture Show is questionable to start with (which is the majority of the fun) but the live actors at The Tower took it 7,439 levels further. It's not that I was offended or anything, but it didn't appeal to my comedic tastes. To me, adding the F word to a sentence does not automatically make it funnier. Likewise, making something horrifyingly dirty does not automatically make it funnier either.

Balancing the pros and cons of the show, the verdict is that I had an awesomely fun time, and would recommend everyone experience it at least once.

DRACULA!!!

So I've known about this blog for awhile, but am just now catching up. I really wish I had been reading from the beginning, because this is completely awesome. Dracula is one of my favorite novels ever, and the idea of reading it in real-time blows my mind. I love that Dracula, because of the nature of the narrative, is one of the only books out there that lends itself to this kind of reading. I love it...LOVE it...LOVE IT! I cannot talk enough about how awesome this is.

Good Morning, Memorial Day!

I woke up extra early on Memorial Day and headed up the gorgeous canyon that's practically in my backyard.

This year has been a relatively wet year (and by relatively wet, I mean still in a drout, just not quite as bad) and the creeks and waterfalls were running extra high after a couple days of rain. It was absolutely stunning.

Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me, so I snapped these shots on my phone. They're not the best quality, but hopefully they still convey how pretty it was up there.

And I Do Flowers Too!

Yes, it's true...I do wedding flowers (and flowers for other stuff too). I got my training working at a local floral shop a few years ago and have been honing my skills by working a couple weddings a year in the meantime.

And now the time has come for me to kick it up a notch. My skills are honed and my floral tape is at the ready. Bring on the weddings!

I've been working super hard on my Stems Floral Design blog and corresponding Facebook page, hoping to get my name out there. So everyone check them out, become a fan, spread the word, etc.

Fashion Sense?

I, admittedly, love Gossip Girl. My guilty pleasure is fueled by the fashion, the makeup, the hair, etc. I love watching and just soaking in all the couture.

The season finale of Gossip Girl, however, well...I really can't think of any witty way to put it, because, um...just look:

Since when did graduation sans cap, but fully flaunting your tassel become fashionable? I really, really hope this is not going to turn into an ill-conceived trend at all the high school graduations coming up in a couple weeks.

Seriously, take another look:

Aaaaaaaaand another:

I think in this last one she realized what she had done and is beginning to feel the pain of remorse.

We all love...

The jumping fox!

And no, Joel did not steal this from me. I showed it to him, and then he posted it on his blog, so I posted it on mine as well.

Things I Have Become Obsessed with in the Last Week:

Sitting at a computer all day everyday with a room full of people with the same sense of humor as me leads to many internet obsessions. I am, therefore, going to start documenting my new internet obsessions every week, starting with these:

WARNING!!!
SOME OF THE FOLLOWING CONTENT IS ICKY, DIRTY, OR JUST HARD TO WATCH/READ. I DO NOT ENDORSE EVERYTHING UNDER THESE LINKS, MERELY THE HILARITY OF THE CONCEPTS.

#5 Finding Horrendous Wedding and Engagement Photos on Facebook and Photoblogs

This includes two categories: the photos that suffer from current photographers playing into current photo trends and who are way too Photoshop-happy, and the photos that just seemed to have happened but never should have.

The amount of material I want to include for this section is way too much, so a post completely dedicated to horrible wedding photos will soon follow!
